Bosch Garden Shredder - 5 Reasons to Buy a Bosch Garden Shredder

!±8± Bosch Garden Shredder - 5 Reasons to Buy a Bosch Garden Shredder

The choices when buying a garden shredder can be quite bewildering. Choosing the manufacturer of your machine should be pretty easy though. Bosch is the dominant player in the electric garden shredder market- and for good reason. Here are 5 good reasons why you should seriously consider buying a Bosch Garden Shredder.

1. Best range

Every Bosch Shredder Model is top of its class:

Best rotary/impact/rapid shredder (The terms rotary, impact and rapid all refer to the same class of shredder and tend to be used interchangeably) - Bosch AXT Rapid 2200. The Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 has more Amazon reviews than all other shredders of all types combined. Average rating 4.1 stars. The few negative reviews concern the cutting blades. There seems to have been a poor batch of blades in the earliest machines - this problem was fixed long ago.

Innovative quiet turbine cutter shredder designed to cope equally well with green and woody waste - Bosch AXT 25TC

2. Build quality

All Bosch products are built to last and to cope with all those knocks and bangs it is going to take in any garden. Impact shredders feature very hard, tough blades which seem to last much longer than those from other manufacturers. The quiet shredders are immensely strong - I have not heard of any Bosch quiet shredders failing in operation. The newer "turbine cut" models such as the AXT 23TC and AXT 25TC are also very tough and reliable.

3. Innovation

Bosch is at the forefront of garden shredder innovation. Their powertrain motors and drive on the 'Rapid' range of shredders set the standard for smooth, continuous rotary shredder operations.

Their current range of quiet shredders use gear teeth and static plates. Where customers struggle to adjust the cutter on other makes of shredder Bosch users are generally pretty happy with the one-click adjustment offered on the Bosch machines.

Most recently Bosch introduced their turbine cut range of shredders designed to cope equally well with green and woody waste.

The integrated collector boxes on the later Bosch quiet and turbine cut shredders are a step forward in designing safety into the machines.

No other manufacturer comes close to matching Bosch on garden shredder innovation.

4. Industry leading customer service

We have heard of a few problems customers have experienced particularly with the impact shredders. It seems there may have been a bad batch of blades included with the early batches of the Rapid AXT 2200 launch. Whenever Bosch has been informed of this problem they have invariably quickly fixed the problem at no cost to the customer.

There are far less reports of customers needed support from Bosch than for other manufacturers. Whenever service is required it is always exemplary.

5. Long parts and labour guarantee

It is a sign of the quality of the Bosch machines that Bosch is the only popular manufacturer that offers a 2 years parts and labour warranty as standard.

Types of Fertilizers - All You Need to Know About Different Types of Fertilizers

!±8± Types of Fertilizers - All You Need to Know About Different Types of Fertilizers

Fertilizers or organic fertilizers are a combination of agents or mixes that helps with the deficiency of the soil and attributes to the growth of plants.

Although there are many different types of fertilizers such as mixed fertilizers, chemical fertilizers, and organic fertilizers to name a few, they all are trying to achieve one goal. That is increased quality and quantity of plant growth. Let's take a look at these fertilizers.

Environmentalists have been trying to achieve an even balance of organic and inorganic fertilizers for consumption for years. Because of increasing concerns over health issues many farmers and local gardeners have decided to use organic materials when trying to obtain their plant growth. Although there is no readily available information that states that the inorganic materials are harmful.

There currently are two types of organic fertilizers that are presently being used; synthetic which essentially is organic compound synthetically produced and natural organic fertilizers. More commonly used organic fertilizers are compost and manure. If you look further into organic fertilizers you will find natural organic materials such as fish emulsion, seaweed and crab shells. Many farmers are starting to use farm organic fertilizer; a key example of this is green manure crops. Green manure crops are crops that are ground into the soil to help achieve high nutrients, but they are dependent on a strict crop rotation and stricter planning.

Chemical fertilizers are defined as non-living materials of entirely moderately artificial origin. Some examples of chemical fertilizers are ammonium nitrate, potassium sulfate, and superphosphate, or triple superphosphate. Nitrate fertilizer is chemical fertilizer uses the haber-bosch process which then produces ammonia. Ammonia is sometimes used directly on the soil or can be compounded to create a product called urea which can also be used as fertilizer as it is very high in nutrients. The price increase in gas is also attributing to a higher demand in fertilizer. With the increase in demand for fertilizer by continuing to produce ammonia it shows that this production consumes up to 5% percent of the global gas consumption.

The last fertilizer is the mixed fertilizer. Farmers and gardeners sometimes prefer products that include a mixture of the required nutrients or called pre mixed products. From earlier times it is said that the soil required three of the big nutrients, nitrogen, phosphorus and potash. By mixing different products to achieve these three nutrients is where we get mixed fertilizers.

Maintaining Your Chipper Blades

!±8± Maintaining Your Chipper Blades

Wood chippers are like any other piece of machinery. Parts like belts and blades need to be replaced and maintained. Proper usage of this type of equipment is important to avoid safety hazards. Chipper blades are most effective if they are sharp and can be hazardous if they are dull or over-used.

Wood chippers vary in size, type and capacity and the blades which process the wood are just as diverse. Rectangular in shape they are usually about 4 inches to 1.5 inches across and about 12 inches long. The thickness also ranges between 1.5 to 2 inches and blades are made from high grade steel. Often times they will contain a minimum of 8% chromium for added hardness.

Keeping the blades sharp is simple in theory and in practice. Sharper blades mean higher quality chips. In order to have a wood chipper that functions at the highest possible level, it's important to re-sharpen blades.

Counter-grinding a knife is the best way to conserve knife steel and improve the quality of chips your machine produces. A counter-ground edge is also more effective for chipping.

The re-sharpening process usually takes about 30 seconds per blade but depends on the length of the knife.

It is a two step process:

1. Place sharpener on knife

2. Adjust abrasive to knife

Using a sharpener will improve maintenance while at the same time decrease the costs involved with chipping. Sharpeners can significantly increase production and increase the life of the blades by up to 80%. Grinding costs are increased if your blades are dull because the machine will have to work harder in order to do the job. Wear and tear on other parts will increase as will the costs of powering the machine.

Sharpening blades also reduces the need to replace the knives by 75% and can reduce safety hazards associated with the use of wood chippers. These are the main reasons why you need to keep your wood chipper blades sharpened on a regular basis. You will save money, and you will keep yourself or others from getting hurt.

Sharpeners cost around thousand dollars and professionals will usually charge around per blade. Replacement chipper blades can be found at wesspur.com and for hard to find parts or to have something custom made zenithcutter.com is the place to get that done.

Always take these precautions when working with wood chippers:

1. Follow all operational instructions and be sure to wear protective gear.

2. Clear the working area around the machine when it is in use

3. Make sure you only deposit the proper materials into the machine.
